Leaving Certificate Applied Programme
The Leaving Certificate Applied is a distinct two year programme of study aimed at preparing students for adult and working life. It helps students apply what they learn to the real world. It is student centred and based on continuous assessment. The aim of the programme is to recognise the talents of all students and provide opportunities for them to develop personal responsibility, self-esteem and self-knowledge. The programme is pre-vocational and is designed for students whose learning styles, aptitudes and needs may not be fully catered for in a traditional Leaving Certificate class.
The programme structure is divided into four block called sessions. Successes and achievements are credited at the end of each session. There are also credits given after session 4 for the final examinations in seven subjects.
