Maths

In Junior Cycle Maths, you will develop an understanding of the basics of Mathematics and see how it relates to the world around you. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including Statistics, Probability, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry to name a few. You will learn fundamental mathematical concepts and develop the skills to apply them to real-world situations.

Assessment in Maths involves a mix of homework and classwork assessment, and formal exams. You will have the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively, develop problem-solving skills, and communicate your ideas effectively.

In addition to traditional exams, Junior Cycle Maths includes Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs). These are tasks that you complete throughout the course and contribute to your final grade. The CBAs in Maths involve conducting an investigation of your choice in second year and a statistical investigation in third year. These assessments provide an opportunity for you to develop your practical and analytical skills, and to showcase your creativity.

Maths is a fascinating and diverse subject that can lead to a variety of career opportunities. Mathematics also provides a solid foundation for pursuing further education in areas such as Economics, Business, and Science based disciplines. By studying Mathematics you will develop a range of essential skills for everyday life, you will also learn transferable skills that are highly valued by employers, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
