Science - Subject Intro

Science

In Junior Cycle Science, you will explore the world around you and discover how it works through exciting experiments and engaging discussions. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including ecology, genetics, energy, and forces, to name a few. You will learn about scientific concepts, theories, and principles, and develop the skills to apply them to real-world situations.

Assessment in Science involves a mix of practical and written tasks, such as laboratory reports, investigations, and exams. You will have the opportunity to work independently and collaboratively, develop problem-solving skills, and communicate your ideas effectively.

In addition to traditional exams, Junior Cycle Science includes Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs). These are tasks that you complete throughout the course and contribute to your final grade. The CBAs in Science involve conducting an investigation, creating a project, and designing and carrying out an experiment. These assessments provide an opportunity for you to develop your practical and analytical skills, and to showcase your creativity.
