Cultural Activities

Music is at the heart of Kylemore College. In addition to music being offered as a curriculum subject to all students, Kylemore College maintains a very vibrant culture of musical activities that are open to participation by all students. This is managed by the Music Department in partnership with the City of Dublin ETB Music Centre which is based in Kylemore College. This unique arrangement has allowed for the introduction of the Music for Success programme.
The programme can support students of the school in a number of ways:

Afterschool and lunchtime music

Kylemore College Choir practices on Wednesday after school and performs regularly in school, locally and nationally. The choir has recorded a CD, travelled to Prague and is a key group in the production of school musicals.
The group keyboard, and guitar classes and drum club offer players of various abilities the opportunity to perform music together.

Music Centre scholarship

Students who show a promising talent as musicians can be offered group or individual lessons in the Music Centre with specialist teachers. These students can then avail of the full range of classes and ensembles that the Music Centre has to offer.
Music is also supported through the Sports and Cultural Council (SCC) and Kylemore College has hosted and promoted an annual Inter Schools talent show since 2006 and more recently a Songwriter in Residence programme with acclaimed singer songwriter Luan Parle.
School musicals take place on a regular basis and encourage students to get involved in musical theatre as singers, actors, dancers and musicians.
If that's not enough, the Music Department also works with the JCSP librarian and colleagues in other departments to run events throughout the year inside and outside the school.
So if music is your thing, Kylemore College is the place for you.
